Learn about MagicGourd, its core features, supported sources, and how to use your material.

What is MagicGourd?

MagicGourd is an AI highlighter notebook for work that demands judgment. Mark what matters and write down your understanding in the source; AI then builds on your thinking to create an enhanced note.

What can I highlight?

You can highlight text and images on web pages, text or selected regions in online PDFs, and video frames on YouTube and Bilibili.

What is “Enhance the Note”?

Enhance the Note uses your highlights and your own notes, together with the source content, to create a separate note. It builds on what matters to you and your understanding, includes source references, and remains editable. Source content comes from web pages, text layers in online PDFs, or available video captions and page text. OCR for scanned documents is not supported, and video captions may be incomplete.

What is “Ask the Highlight”?

Use Ask the Highlight to discuss content you have already highlighted with AI: explain its meaning, check facts, question viewpoints, connect ideas, or explore implications. AI can also help you write highlight notes.

Which sources can Enhance the Note use?

Source content comes from web pages, text layers in online PDFs, or available video captions and page text. OCR for scanned documents is not supported, and video captions may be incomplete.

Can I edit a generated note?

Enhanced notes remain editable after generation, and regenerating them will not silently overwrite your changes.

Can I keep taking notes offline?

Keep highlighting and writing notes on a flaky connection or while offline. Your material syncs automatically when you reconnect.

Do I stay in control of my material?

Enhanced notes remain editable after generation, and regenerating them will not silently overwrite your changes. Highlights and notes can be recorded offline, synced when you reconnect, and exported as Markdown or a long image. Markdown exports with images come as a .zip containing the text and image files.

Can I export my highlights and notes?

Export as Markdown or a long image. Markdown exports with images come as a .zip containing the text and image files.

How do I use the exported .zip with local Markdown tools?

Unzip the archive, then open the .md file with Obsidian, Typora, or another local tool. Images are stored in the images folder alongside the .md file.
